Phoenix Canariensis

Commonly known as a Canary Island Date Palm. This one is on Southsea Common, Portsmouth, Hampshire. I believe there are around another half a dozen dotted around the place. I took this shot as we were returning to the car..........it had just finished raining really hard, hence the grey skies and lovely diffused light,

Worth a look large, on black if you're so inclined.

Thanks to everyone who has visited, commented on and/or left me a star on one of my photos this past week. I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

I love the light just after a good storm Keith. This is a fabulous tree and at that size it must like Southsea very much! It's definitely worth viewing large....beautiful!

Hope you have a good weekend. Better weather on Sunday, apparently!

A really impressive palm, it's grown into a big tree! The green seems more intense after the rain.
