These benches now overlook the construction site of the ongoing Southsea Coastal Defence Scheme. No longer quiet, it remains a good spot to catch the sunset!

I remember going to Southsea to visit a cousin in the 50s. It was the nearest seaside from where we lived and I was pining for St.Andrews where I was brought up. The things that stick in my mind include the lovely gardens along the esplanade, the dreadful sharply sloping pebble beach and the Guinness toucan clock which was fascinating. This looks a good place to watch the sunset, Very smart benches too.

It's definitely a bit of a mess at the moment...........but hopefully it will look good when it's finished........although it seems to be taking ages.
