Tytherington Church of St James.

Just a few miles from Sutton Veny is Tytherington, where this old church stands. Possibly the oldest church in Wiltshire, this simple building dates to at least the early 12th century. The church was founded by Empress Matilda (Queen Maud), mother of Henry II, who had a residence at nearby Heytesbury.

A very nice capture of this wonderful basic church, a pity you were not able view the interior, many of the older churches were founded or funded by local landowners. I hope you have had a nice if warm day Rosalyn
