I'm a proud mum......
Well it goes without saying doesn't it? I'm so proud of the people my children have become. Today it's Tony who's started me off again. When he was a teenager, he'd wanted to do media work, but being a single mum, I couldn't afford to send him to the Higher College, so he only did the basics and then went on to work for an insurance company and eventually as a Customs Officer for 25 years. Then he was made redundant and he took this opportunity to go back to College (at 48 years of age) and at the end of his first year there, he was awarded the Pupil of the Year!!! Well this afternoon he told me that he's been awarded Pupil of the Year again!!!! Also he's just won the Leadership award too. He's been helping other students to do their work, as he's the "old man"!!! He's been offered a job at the College to be a tutor at the end of his course. He's doing one more year and at the end of it, he'll have a University Degree !!!! Wow to me that's simply amazing.

Okay folks, I just wanted to tell you all about my brilliant news today.

Yes I've always been proud of my kids, I've never had any problems with them, yet some of their friends who had both parents still together went off the rails at times. Whereas I was all alone bringing them up - like you - and they have done me proud!

Jenny McIntyre replied to Mickey fez:

Sort of Mickey - his dad was clever too, and Tony seems to have his mannerisms and way of thinking, but being clever - hopefully he's got some of that from me too!!!!!

Good for him. But no surprise really. He's obviously very intelligent. An author, a father, husband, a great student, and with impeccable taste in his choice of fictional characters!

Ha ha - when I read your first two sentences, I foolishly expected you to say "But no surprise really because you're his mum!!!" LOL but nope I didn't get a mention in this comment!!! Thank you so much Gracie for your lovely words about Tony - I am really proud of him.

Gosh, that's just the COOLEST news! Wow, what an amazing guy to make his future like that. How proud you must be, and he as well, and his wife and Mandi too. What an example he is to show what can be accomplished if only you have the will to make it happen!

WELL DONE!!!! :)

Jenny McIntyre replied to Janet Brien:

Yes he'd had this desire to do anything concerning the media and 30 years later, he's doing it and I think those 30 years where he learned more about life, has done him well.
