I drove through Avon, CT to-day on a line safari to photograph some older 23 kV distribution from the former Hartford Electric Light Company (HELCO). While on this mission, I noticed that this old 23 kV subtransmission from the Connecticut Power Company (CP) had been demolished and removed.
This line was retired when I visited it with my camera in 2011 to photograph two Pyrex high-voltage insulators that had survived on its poles. I knew of two other sites with Pyrex insulators on CP's old 23 kV system (one in Collinsville and another in Avon), but those insulators had been replaced before I got a digital camera.
By the time I visited this line in 2011, it featured what I believe were the very last Pyrex insulators in service in Connecticut.
I suspect that EVERSOURCE demolished this line in 2017, and it would not surprise me if the two Pyrex insulators are resting safely in a lineman's insulator collection.
But with this line's demise, the moment has sadly come for me to officially declare Pyrex insulators extinct in Connecticut, after more than 90 years of faithful service.
Below are pictures of the two insulators for your enjoyment:

I also believe that there is only one 23 kV line built to this specification left in service. It runs through parts of Canton and New Hartford:

It was next to a pole with some beautiful carnival-glass insulators that unfortunately bit the dust a couple years ago.
