Brakes and Breaks
Tomorrow, I go back to work after my break. It was lovely to have an 8-day break and the peace and quiet will be missed. It’s only one of a few issues I have with working in a supermarket – the constant noise from music. Most days it’s okay, but now and again it really bugs me especially when they play the local radio station, loud, before the customers come in, and sometimes even whilst they’re in the store. I’m not sure it’s even legal… Anyway, when I say ‘peace and quiet’ that’s ignoring the construction site opposite that was tearing down an old building, now they’re using a pile driver, just like the other nearby building works. We have a third site, and now we’ve had a missive stating that our neighbour is seeking planning permission to extend their property; it never ends!

Oh, now that my son is no longer a student, and I don’t work for a uni, my copy of Office will be deactivated in early June. Fantastic! I’ve now got to look for something cheaper than Office, as all I want is some way to save documents to my PC. How hard could that be…

The latter part of my break I washed the floors. I used to do it very regularly, but without a dog now, it’s not something that I feel needs doing too often. I don’t vacuum that often anymore either now that there aren’t drifts of white dog fur. I’d thought about painting the one wall in the dining room though once again, I couldn’t be bothered lol.

I was going to take my car to the garage that did the MOT and listed some ‘advisories’ for repair. I’d phoned them, but on passing, they were really busy, and no ramps were free. I’d already decided to get a second opinion and had an appointment at a different garage. They made me wait 20 minutes before they even took my car from the parking area; I was not best pleased and had said to myself, 10 more minutes and I’m gone! Anyway, they had a good look at the car, inspected a coil, and the brake pipes, and the 2 tyres that the other garage had mentioned. I was expecting a large estimate for the work, though they state that none of the work actually needs doing, and the other garage were most likely just ‘covering their bum’ as they’d done the MOT. Wow! They did state that I’d need 2 new tyres before the winter, though for now they are safe and legal and being as I don’t do much mileage, they’ll be fine if changed before winter. A nice surprise, though their quote for 2 tyres was a tad steep so I’ll need to shop around later in the year.

The weather during my time off has been bleh. Mostly dull and overcast, with the odd sunny few hours thrown in. I had hoped for nicer weather to be honest. Apart from my 2 days off a week, sort of my ‘weekend’ I won’t have time off now until late July, sighs… I have 4 hours overtime booked for later this week, then 5 for next week though I’ll do my best not to work more than that. I’ve had some good nights, a few nice naps lol, and some good times experimenting in the kitchen; we both like to cook.

Sadly, I’m returning to work with a cold. For days now I’ve been eating spicier food than usual as my taste buds are ‘bored’. Early Tuesday I awoke coughing, and I’m all stuffed up. My son can blame me if he catches this cold, though he can’t blame my workplace as I haven’t been there. Hopefully it won’t last long.

Have a good week.

Always difficult to go back to work after vacation. Seems like you never left within the hour! Haven't used it much myself but if you have "notes" on your system it should do as you ask. I believe its a much scaled down version of Word that comes free with most windows pc..Just cant do much besides type and save as I recall.
Sorry you have another cold. You seem so prone to them. I do hope you take or get plenty of vitamin c as a deterent?
We had lousy weather for several days. Now we are having a beautiful week. Since our weather generally heads your way, maybe youll have some nice weather soon!

Thanks Gracie. The only 'notes' I can see are by Office which expires soon. I may just have to dig deep...

I do seem to get them more than I'd like. We both take a multivitamin, and I eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg.

Ooh, nicer weather on the way would be nice :) I live in hope.

Oh what a shame that you didn't really have the chance of being outside while you were on holiday, with it being so chilly and wet at times. This morning we had heavy rain and then this afternoon it was gorgeously sunny, but a very sharp wind.

Shame about not being able to have Office free. I've never used it, so I don't miss what I haven't had!! Good news in a way, about your car - I hope you manage to keep the costs down with the price of fuel nowadays. Good luck with getting rid of that cold. I'm permanently snuffling, but I don't think I've got a cold, I don't go out, so if I do have one - then who's given it to me???

I hope your return to work is good and not too exhausting for you.

Thanks Jenny.
The weather will hopefully pick up soon.
I don't do much mileage, so that helps a lot, and I plan outings to get the most out of petrol and my time.
My feet ache lol
