Nein!

I agree, Isabel. It would be a good idea for everybody to look at both sides of the conflict, to take a close look at its origins and to put the facts into context by gathering information from different, yet reliable sources before judging one-sidedly. Tunnel vision does not make the world a better place.

Indeed Edna, and stop the indiscriminate persecution against Jews of the diaspora.

I agree, Israel is a democracy - but democratically elected leaders can commit crimes, too. Democracy diesn't mean guiltlessness. And there are many serious voices calling the Israeli government war criminals. Imho it is too simplifying to call the Israeli attacks on civil persons justified because Israel is a democracy. Life seems to me somewhat more complicated.....

I agree, Jewish persons are not to be made responsible for actions of the Israeli government. Guilt is a personal thing, not a tribal one. Here I agree totally with you.

I also agree concerning Israel's threat by it's neighbours. It is not justified by any reason.

But I do not agree with "Israel is the last obstacle between Arabs and us (whoever "us" is). This is imho a clash-of-culture-attitude which ist not justified by any argument. Itis exactly the point you bemoan rightly above. You take one individual and make it's opinion a whole people's opinion. No. I disagree as far as this point is concerned. And I'm afraid there won't be peace as long as people regard others only as members of a group (mostly attributed fom a position outside [a better, wiser, better-knowing position]) and not as individuals with very own wishes, hopes and thougths.

just my 2 cents

I didn't intend to open a discussion about what Israel is doing because ipernity is not the right place for those discussions. But some posts deserve a reaction...

I feel unfair that nobody here and elsewhere said anything after the 7-10 terrorist attack on Israel, about the hostages... but now making Israel a monster because she is defending herself and trying to retrieve the hostages that terrorist hold as trading money. Jews are the easy target...

I am not saying Bibi is doing or is not doing the right thing, but I can say I would not like to be in his skin and have to deal with what is going on.

For the last I would love you to be right, but if you read the Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood charts eradication of Jews and of Christians after is on it as God's will and a duty to any good Muslim. This is why a Muslim (terrorist in this case) who kills a Jew or else is called a martyr... not only Hamas followers but all terrorists that commit suicidal bombings all around the planet.

I have Muslim friends who are horrified by those extremists, by Ayatollahs etc. I have Iranian friends refugees whose family and friends were killed in the early 80s after Khomeiny took over Iran. And they were good Muslims, respecting their faith and other's faith. Those Muslims fear the ones I was mentioning above as much as we should.

Because of difference of values I think we lost, but future will tell.

Looking at people like individuals with their own wishes, toughts, hopes and feelings is the purpose of intelligent people who are able to think by themselves, not the flocks we see repeating what they are told to like mantras, just look what is going on not only in "La Vuelta"...

Thanks for your "2 cents" Markus.

I agree with almost everything except for the fact we cannot fight terrorism with words, like a friend just told me : "They have guns and explosives, we have (kind and understanding) words. Who would win??"

It appears to be trendy and very left wing to comment on what I suspect they know little about,
It is my opinion better to stay quiet unless you have first hand knowledge,
Power to your elbow Isabel!

Thanks Roger, but it is hard to be attacked everywhere you look, can't even look at the news on tv...
