ALMOST 3 MONTHS AGO I TOLD I WOULD LOOK CLOSER TO THE FOOT OF THIS QUERCUS TO TRY TO UNDERSTAND IF IT WAS TWO TREES OR A SINGLE ONE. CAN SEE DETAIL ON THE PIPs...
SORRY, I WAS DUE TO POST IT LONG AGO BUT JUST FORGOT.
I think I was the one who asked the original question Isabel..........so thanks for getting back with these super photos.
It certainly looks like two separate trees from the two excellent close up shots, but I'm still not 100 per cent convinced as the roots could be one and the same. I doubt we will ever know for certain, but the tree.......or trees are still beautiful, especially in your main image where they are semi-silhouetted against the sky!
It was you indeed, I don’t have a 100% certainty but think it is one single tree, would have to take something to dig but would be affraid to hurt the tree, trees need respect…
Usually here as it has always been a dry region with a dry season lasting 4 to 6 months (now more and more long lasting one) trees compete for water and therefore don’t grow close to another. If you plant two little ones close like this, one would have taken over the other one…
An amazing tree with character, it looks very old! I wonder when quercus ilex will start to grow here, that time might not be far off with climate change....
