We extract the stone from the countryside, move it at great cost to places where it can be ground up, mixed with glue and dye, shape it, fire it, cut it, and then move it again to storage depots from where it can be moved yet again in smaller quantities and used in projects like this. This is called Civilisation and is a Good Thing because it stimulates The Economy and provides earnings and profits. Artistically it reproduces the same art in every town and city so that we can see it and enjoy it without the inconvenience and cost of going to a gallery.
This is a very good picture because not only do we see the geometry, the design, the colours and materials, we see also the general air of decay which this type of project was supposed to eliminate. The cigarette ends are the coup de foudre.
