A57 Mottram by pass and Glossop Spur. An expensive half-hearted Road improvement project.

My opinion is this a waste of money and all it will do in busy periods is move the traffic queues further along the road and the Glossop Spur will just be a queue in a new place.

The project does nothing for the villages of Hollingworth and Tintwistle. The west bound traffic on A628 will not be changed they will still have HGVs trundling by all day or standing queues for miles through Longdendale

The original idea on the 1980s was to extend the M67 as at least dual Carriageway around all three villages to the North over Swallows Wood and Tintwistle Low Moor. The Glossop bound traffic to just stay on the current roads in much reduced traffic.
