Yes I must admit I didn’t notice that one had turned away (head just visible) at the time I took the photo

Des huîtriers pie. Rare de les voir ainsi. En général ils sont dans la vase en train de manger. C'était en bord de mer ?

Colin Ashcroft replied to Phil le Malouin:

These Oystercatchers have just arrived inland to a reservoir and adjacent farmland. It’s an early Spring migration to breeding grounds in the UK Peak District National Park. Lapwing and Golden Plover are some of the waders also arriving. Lapwing nest of the farmland but Golden Plover prefer the moorland hill tops. Curlews are the next waders due to arrive soon.

Great shot, Colin. Which reservoir is this?

Colin Ashcroft replied to John Cook:

Hello John,

This is a small reservoir called Swineshaw near Old Glossop in the north west corner of Derbyshire. Confusingly there are two more Reservoirs of the same name not far away but just into Greater Manchester.

It is a regular haunt and I do record the birds I see.
Best Wishes

A very nicely composed shot Colin.......the Oystercatchers look great, and you did well to capture so many of them at once!

Colin Ashcroft replied to Keith Burton:

They are a great attraction at the moment with dog walkers asking what they are and photos and videos of them appearing on local social media
