Sleeping

There is was a bee asleep below this Globe Thistle. It was a rather dark day for photography and I admit that despite World Photography Day being on my mind for days earlier in the week I never thought on it on the day but at least I did take a photograph and so can join in.

I had hoped to take a photograph of a Butterfly something I did manage the next day.

A lovely capture Colin........the detail in the thistles is excellent and although the bee is in the shadows, it's definitely there! I like the dark out-of-focus background.

Dark days often produce the best images bright sun can be to harsh, they are like magnets to bees

Colin Ashcroft replied to Peter Castell:

yes they are and we hope the Sedum will flower and have a similar result - I think Red Admiral Butterflies like them as well as the bees

I had to look twice to spot the little bee ;-) Great, like a bracelet it encircles the stem of the flower...

Even though not what you were hoping for, this is a lovely photo and does include a winged creature! I really like the gentle light in the photo.

Isn't it interesting how life can get in the way of our best intentions? These days I need big reminders to remember all the many details of my life (and my husband's).

Happy World Photography Day!
