The clue is the almost ever present Road Closed signs for one direction or another, sometimes both!
Currently A57 Snake Pass is closed, some say it will re-open, some say it will be down graded (de-trunked) and others say the next Winter landslips will be the end of it as a through road.
I suspect the latter one day even if it’s a few years away.
