Xanten - Town Gate (Klever Tor)

A day trip to Xanten, in Germany, with my mother. She didn’t feel like getting out of the car, but I walked around for half an hour, smoked a cigar, and shot some pictures.
(My mother loves to see a bit of the world –and to be able to tell she’s been abroad–, but couldn’t walk more than 10m without taking a rest.)

The deep moat has been filled with the dust of ages... However, the town, prominent in the Nibelungen saga, is interesting enough and worth much more time than I could spend there.

This gate, indeed, is part of an endeavour to fill a new album of mine “with life”. (BTW, my best “entrance” picture dates from before the digital revolution. I’ll just have to find the negative...)

I’m afraid my mother’s heart needs more blessing than mine –it’s what causes all the trouble. Of course, I’m a good son, and also an enthusiastic driver who must make up for thirty years without a license! ;-)

Glad you like the series. My digital photo library is about exhausted: I’ll have to find those negatives!
