What dog’s that? It’s a deuce, look at it. – Pete Townshend (The Who, “Dogs”).
The answer might well be: a “Basset fauve de Bretagne” (or as we Anglophiles prefer: a “Fawn Brittany Basset”).
The easier question is this: Does it matter?
Nope, it’s a deuce, look at it!

My quotations cover the vast range from Paul Simon to Pete Townshend. ;-)
It’s no accident that most of them are from songs: my memory isn’t particularly developed (or even worse, is on the decline), and those are easiest to memorize...
On the whole, I think, quality pictures depend on two points: investment (both in equipment and effort) and subject matter. My above-average pictures are entirely due to subject matter (thanks, Chencho!). There may be a moderate shift in the other direction, though: I’ve ordered a Sony a77 camera with a 16-50mm/f2.8 lens –my birthday present! I hope it will give me more possibilities, but doubt if my pictures will actually get better; after all, some of my pictures I like best were shot with the cheapest SLR on the Dutch market, a very primitive Russian camera my brother gave to me when he upgraded to a Canon.
