40C? That's pretty unbearable, but at least you can keep in the shade and turn the air-con on presumably. Here today it's very windy and rainy and most unpleasant. I'd definitely want to be where you are George.

I didn't know there were borders within Australia. And to go from one side to the other, you have to show your ID card ?? HBM George.

No need for ID cards, Christa, just different regional administrations - Australia was a series of colonies which federated. While some issues (eg national finances, defence) are national, the states each separately maintain roads, provide eduction services etc. Then there are also local governments for towns etc! .
