Silo Art in Tungamah

Over recent years in Australia, there has been a blooming of large scale artworks on grain silos and watertanks. This has not only made these structures more interesting, but has led to a growth in tourist visits to many places that otherwise wuld remain unvisited. This adds interest to country trips and also helps businesses in small towns such as Tungamah.

This artwork was the first in north-eastern Victoria and was painted by artist Sobrane Simcock in 2018. It shows dancing Brolgas (at right), a Kookaburra (centre) and a Galah at left.

i have seen painted grain silos in the USA on Panoramio. What a good idea. I hope tourists spend some time in the local towns, stopping for coffee or lunch.

Hi George. Pardon the silence. Very busy. So hope you are well and happy. Nice to see this, though from an artistic pov I think the tank at the front has too many details and strange perspectives. Still…a massive undertaking !
Sending love and hugs…D

Awesome photo, George! I think all silos ought to look like that...so they can serve a double purpose: as silos and as works of art :-)
