church rebuilt from 1714 to a design by john james , though the mediaeval tower remained until 1747, when lancelot dowbiggin built the present one. every other time that I'd been here, the nave had been locked though visible from the atrium under the west gallery, so I was pleasantly surprised to find it fully open when I stuck my head in on the off chance.
