These structures are temporary footway extensions made from high‑quality, durable materials. They function like boardwalks or parklet platforms, sitting on top of the existing road surface to create extra pedestrian space.

They are part of a formal 18‑month experimental trial under an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO).

These changes are intended to make the city centre feel greener, calmer, and more pedestrian‑friendly, while still maintaining loading bays and disabled parking.
