Is this the infamous Burke of Burke and Hare, body snatchers Joe!? It looks very interesting. I seem to remember you in a judges wig!! Very good and interesting pictures, perfectly depicted in b&w. Where did this re-enactment take place and why? Cheers, Rosa.
This is indeed, Rosa, the infamous Burke and Hare, who were not, as popularly thought, grave robbers. The re-enactment was in Court 9 of the Supreme Courts in Edinburgh. It was part of 'Doors Open Days Edinburgh 2018'. The chap you see in the third photograph was he who dressed me up and photographed me as a judge two years ago. The re-enactment two years ago was the trial of Madeleine Hamilton Smith, whom you know all about, as by this time, you will have seen the David Lean film with his wife, Ann Todd, in the title role. Thanks for your very kind comment. Cheers, Joe
Ah yes, I remember that well Joe. How fascinating! I would love that....to watch the enactment, not dress up as a judge! You looked the part very well. LOL! Cheers, Rosa.
There was another trial in the afternoon, Rosa. In Court 10 at 3:00 pm, Mr Thomas Tank was charged with driving a steam locomotive while under the influence of fizzy pop. Cheers, Joe
