Nothing says "Vintage Polaroid" like a thumbprint in the frame.

Submitted to the Vintage Photos Theme Park for the theme, "Thumbprint in the frame", my choice for this week's topic, "PICK YOUR OWN THEME ABOUT THINGS—OBJECTS, ARTIFACTS, OR ITEMS." This photo was selected from dozens of other Polaroid thumbprint victims in my possession.

Thank you for your kind comment. The subjects are childhood friends of my sister, circa 1956.

Ha ha, that's great! Weren't these the kind of Polaroids that needed to be coated? I have a number of fingerprinted prints, too.

RicksPics replied to Alan Mays:

Yes, those photos required an application of special coating. The coating was sticky and required a minute or two to dry but people were often excited to see their photos and carelessly would grab the photo to take a look. The coating would stick to any fingers that touched it, leaving the finger print area exposed, It was not immediately visible but over time the uncoated area of the print faded and the finger print became apparent.
