My father with his Uncle Pete, soon to go off to war in France. Early spring of 1918

I thought I had an actual rocking horse photo of this young lad but, alas, a rolling nag is the best I can do. :) Like Alan, I throw myself to your mercy that you might allow it to pass muster in the Vintage Photos Theme Park.

Wow, what a lovely family photo! I just hope that your father's Uncle Pete returned safely from the war to mug for the camera in other playful photos like this. (And I sympathize with your rolling vs. rocking conundrum, too, of course--I never realized that there were so many horses on wheels after discovering that mine was that way!)

Thanks. Yes, Pete returned safe and sound and enjoyed a long life. He was very reserved and I don't remember him speaking very much at the few family gatherings I can recall. I didn't know he had gone to war before I discovered these photos and a few scrawled notes on the backs of a couple of the photos taken the same day.
