mural “Capax Infiniti” - Created by Faith47

this woman has been gracing our downtown for years, classing up the place

viewable due to an open parking lot. now construction has begun on a building in that parking lot, but i'm happy to see that it looks like they are at least going to preserve the art. unknown how visible it will be in the end.

credit to the muralist: Created by Faith47, one of the most famous female street and graffiti artists in the world. Entitled “Capax Infiniti” (“Holding the Infinite” in Latin), the South African muralist painted this beautiful piece showing a ghost-like woman with her back turned to us.” — Street Art News and Wikipedia.

[I put a PIP with a link to someone's photo of this art work before construction began - worth seeing! - for some reason the PIP doesn't show the image directly, but it does link to the right place if you click on it.] May have been installed in 2014 or thereabouts.

Nice b/w contrast on this dark wall.
You'll have to told us the rest of the story and the visual fate reserved for this fresco, Laura.

Thank you. I've found and credited the mural artist above. She's very famous and we are lucky to have her work in our city. I haven't heard the result of the building taking place yet - but will keep you posted!

I have always considered the filled in brick windows you see here as ghost windows. And as I check the artist's other works, they are often described as ghostly. Intriguing.

Check out the whole mural through the PIP (from before construction).

This art has made me happy for a very long time. It's in a non-descript part of our downtown. I've found and credited the artist above (bad me for not doing that before).
I wish we could claim her as one of ours, but she is an international artist who doesn't come from here - but still we get to enjoy.

Check out the whole mural from before construction through the PIP.

Thank you. And yes, she is an internationally recognized muralist. I've finally credited her above.

You can see a photo of the piece before construction in the PIP.

Une belle fresque ..... je souhaiterais comme vous qu'on la conserve .... et puis cela ne devrait pas gêner la construction. ....
