A wonderful old image Phil , You must have been stood close to where the new Lifeboat station is now.

I would have been in front of what was the old lifeboat station, which from the current Street View, is Apex Mobility. The new lifeboat station is further to the east and a bit south.
Old Station Approach follows the line of the former railway tracks for much of its route.
