Thanks, John. As usual, I cannot remember exactly, blow-by-blow, how this emerged. I know that it started with a couple of long rectangles, that were treated to Photoshop's 'glass button' treatment. That gives the graduated shading to the basic shapes, which then get twisted in various ways, copied, recoloured and layered. One of my favorite effects is to use the two 'polar coordinates'. These really create very exaggerated curves, but ones with smooth transitions.
