Thank you, Laura, for hosting this World Photography Day event. This picture is taken from the inside of the art gallery at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, a place I visit frequently. The photo doesn’t really reflect my favourite photographers: Saul Leiter, Fred Herrzog, Harry Callahan or Todd Hido; although Todd Hido’s dictum to “photograph like a documentarian and print like a painter” is one that is often in the forefront of my mind when the camera is in my hand. I’m attracted to shadows, to buildings and to details.
