Mirror
Rain, rain, rain. I was going to venture out first thing but the weather was very inclement. I’m also having needles forced into each eyeball this morning - injections to alleviate my macular degeneration which I need every five or six weeks. Ouch! It’s not a painful process, merely very uncomfortable, but it messes up my vision for a few hours afterwards; partly because of the injection but also because of the drops which are intended to numb the eyeball. It’s a bit of a bugger.
Anyway, because of the above I had to resort to taking a picture in the house. Hence the bathroom mirror and the towel ring. I hope World Photography Day inspires you and that you enjoy the results from everyone on Ipernity or elsewhere.

I love this minimalist photo. Having a mirror reflection with almost nothing in the reflection makes it feel almost like a window instead of a mirror.
I'm very glad your eye issue and the rain didn't keep you from celebrating our special day. (I'm glad they can help you with the macular degeneration - but I'm sorry it's so uncomfortable and so often!
I notice that you have a smattering of minimalist images in your photos you share on ipernity. What draws you to take that type photo, as you have here?
Old Owl replied to raingirl:
With the minimalism, I like simplicity and emptiness, negative space. However there is a constant war between what I want to create and what is actually before me, hence only "a smattering of minimalist images". I'd love to make images like those of Michael Kenna, but I don't have the patience and tend to just press the shutter rather too impulsively (and perhaps compulsively). Still, I love making pictures whatever they are - some good, some bad, most just OK, I print them and look at them in photobooks and on the wall and they make me feel good.

A very appropriate photo, when it's raining. Three Aussie images so far to start WPD posting this year...
Old Owl replied to Gillian Everett:
Thanks for the sympathy. I've been having the treatment for three years now; it will never cure the MD, just stop it getting worse.
