HAPPY WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY 2024.

Each day I walk around the part of Mandurah where I live, usually with my phone camera but also occasionally with my Fuji. I often take photos of the same things each time: Town Beach, the marina, the estuary which runs through the town, the small Mandjar Bay which is part of the old town, shops and cafes and such things. Nothing that I photograph is special, but everything is special to me because it is the place in which my wife and I chose to live when we arrived in Australia in the year 2000. By photographing it I keep it in my heart and mind at all times. Soppy, I know, but who cares?

Ipernity has welcomed me, too. I like the idea that World Photography Day is an opportunity for all of us (or as many as wish to participate) to join together on the same day.

This picture is of the Sugar Lips mobile cafe which sits in the car park at the Silver Sands beach each morning. Many people pass here on walks or their journeys to work and get a coffee. Just over the hill there, where the couple are looking, is the Indian Ocean.

As I’ve said before, it might not be a perfect place, but it’s as close to paradise as an old reprobate like me is ever going to get.

Have a delightful day, won’t you.

Yep that's the day, I think that's the perfect shot for all those reasons most think as not worth a pinch of salt. We both know that there is more to life than most would think on. a worthy shot to the 2024 photographic day.

Well... I present same places over and over too, specially Penedos which is my paradise. Light is never the same so no photo is equal to another ! You are welcome to carry on !

A nice glimpse of your world with the semi silhouettes, the subjects may be the same but the images are always slightly different. Taking photos gives you a purpose to go out otherwise you just walk for the sake of walking, with a camera people tend to ask what you have taken, also I use fully manual because choosing the settings adds interest, it doesn't mean the results are any better !!!

I can fully appreciate your comments with this image, John. I suspect most of we photography enthusiasts take a similar approach. Nicely framed against the sky and lovely light. Happy WPD.

Spoken from your heart for this special day. We all have a 'Mandurah ' I think. Nothing very special to most onlookers but something special to us. Thanks for sharing.

A fine selection for World Photography Day. It evokes memories of similar scenes in everyone's lives around the world. Fond ones, too.

I think this is very special! Something doesn't have to be exotic to be special. You imbue your photograph with your love of the place. Thank you for sharing the information about your photographic world.

Your lining up the cafe and the couple right at the top of the hill works really well here. I find myself continuing to look back at the photo it pleases me so.

Wonderful contribution to our celebration.

I love this photo John. The light is beautiful and I love the spreading trees framing the scene showing the 'Sugar Lips' cafe! What a great name!! Most of all I love your notes that bring this small piece of your world to life for us on World Photography Day. Your words show how much you love it there and why it is so special to you. No it is not soppy. To an old romatic like me it is just wonderful!

Happy World Photography Day and best wishes. Carol

Your story is interesting to read. So you've lived in Australia for a quarter of a century, where were you before? I think it's important to feel good where you live ♡♡, and that seems to be the case for you. Happy WPD, Old Owl.
