The Green Man at Low Hall.
A wonderful tree sculpture carved from a dead elm tree in Low Hall nature reserve. it was done around a year ago to replace an older and much smaller Green Man carving that had unfortunately succumbed to the ravages of time -and rotten timber.
Being Elm this one should last for some considerable time, plus some disease resitant elm saplings have been planted around the old tree to conyinue the cycle there.
The Green Man is an old celtic symbol of rebith and the re emergence of life in the woods after winter.
