Pablo Picasso. Spanish, 1881-1973.
Head of a Woman
1927
Oil on canvas
Accession # 1999.363.66
Picasso's ferocious female head is drawn in a continuous line and outfitted with spikes for teeth. This head is one of at least sixteen others, dating from 1925 to 1927, which initiate Picasso's deformations of the human form after his neoclassical work of the early 1920s.
