Found underneath an Oak Tree

..........and taken home to photograph. The acorns don't look very healthy and I think they've dropped earlier than usual due to the stress of drought conditions.

At least the leaves look relatively fresh in comparison! I am waiting to find out how well the chestnuts are doing, we have a couple of trees locally that usually provide me with a treat.

There are no chestnut trees near me (except for Horse Chesnuts). I have a Twisted Hazel tree in the garden, but there's no sign of any hazelnuts this year ;-(
