Portsmouth Naval Memorial

Taken whilst standing on a very parched Southsea Common.........not a bit of green grass in sight.

The memorial commemorates those members of the Royal Navy who had no known grave, the majority of deaths having occurred at sea.

10,000 sailors of the First World War and almost 15,000 of the Second World War.

There are similar memorials in Plymouth and Chatham.

It's such a shame that these memorials, don't seem to deter people from going to war..!! Us humans seem to be destined to destroy each other and the planet..!!
