Catkins
From the Twisted Hazel tree in my garden. The trailing catkins are the male parts and the tiny red flower is the female part and it will self-pollinate.
I had no qualms about picking this piece off the tree......it has plenty more. It was far too windy to get a shot in situ.

I tried a darker background......and a lighter one, but decided that this one was a good compromise between the two!

My oldest daughter suffers terribly from hay fever and has to be very careful as we go into spring and summer.
