Catkins

From the Twisted Hazel tree in my garden. The trailing catkins are the male parts and the tiny red flower is the female part and it will self-pollinate.

I had no qualms about picking this piece off the tree......it has plenty more. It was far too windy to get a shot in situ.

Same here James, we were expecting rain, but only got a couple of insignificant showers. Windy and sunny today!

Ein schönes frühlingshaftes Stillleben, Keith. Mit einem dunklen Hintergrund könnten die leuchtenden Farben vielleicht noch kräftiger herauskommen.

Keith Burton replied to Mikus:

Thank you so much Mikus........glad you like this one.

I tried a darker background......and a lighter one, but decided that this one was a good compromise between the two!

In real life I try to keep as far from them as possible but still the pollen are everywhere;-)

Keith Burton replied to Gudrun:

Glad you like the photo Gudrun..........but not the pollen.

My oldest daughter suffers terribly from hay fever and has to be very careful as we go into spring and summer.
