Abstract

My wife owns a kaftan which she wears around the house. On the day I took this photo it had been washed and was hanging on the line and the sunlight was shining on the patterns on the back of it. I took a photo of the patterns, cropped out this one (which reminded me of a parasol) and subsequently converted it to black and white.

Funnily enough, when I showed my wife the final image (as you see it) she vaguely remembered the shape, but couldn't quite remember where she's seen it before :-)))

It looks like an umbrella but it is a pretty kaftan, probably colourful!

Erinnert mich irgendwie an ein Kaleidoskop! ***** Oder vielleicht noch eher an ein Mandala. Im ersten Moment hab ich auch an einen Sonnenschirm gedacht, wie ihn die feinen Damen früher trugen.

Your wife’s reaction certainly confirms it as abstract :-)

Abstract in its patterns, perhaps, but very close to reality. I also love the black and white here, which is so appropriate for this subject.

Something like a mandala. It's normal that after so much post-production, your wife doesn't remember her own work. Enjoy your Sunday, Keith.
