Awaiting Surgery

On a whim I bought a pineapple this morning whilst doing our weekly shop. It seemed only fair to take a photo of it before hacking it up..!!

A daring photo here with that deadly looking knife too. This high contrast mono does seem to work although I am slightly surprised that it does. I do like to see the texture in the wood here. Well done.

Cheers. Herb

I'll take these comments as a "maybe" Herb..........I was aware that it wouldn't be to everyone's taste, but as you know, I like to experiment.

Thanks for taking the trouble to drop in and leave your well thought out comments. Much appreciated.

Keith Burton replied to Günter Klaus:

Thank you for these lovely comments Güni............I'm glad you like this one........it was a bit of an experiment..!!

The point of the knife was actually pushed far enough into the wooden board so that it would stand upright.

Have a lovely evening my friend. Best wishes, Keith.

Beautiful b&w. Looks like a face-off between knife and pineapple; the trick is to keep out of the way once the battle is joined. The other mystery, for me, is how to assess whether the pineapple is ripe.

Keith Burton replied to Steve Bucknell:

Thank you very much Steve............glad you like it. You're very kind.

According to the label on the pineapple, they are picked when ripe and once they are picked they stop ripening. So in theory, it should be OK to eat and any time after getting into it. I haven't tried yet!

A wonderful image Keith I like the underexposed result I'm undecided about the rivets in the handle the bright cutting edge goes well with the tittle. Pineapples used to be a sign of wealth !!!
If you don't want to eat all of it you can freeze it

Wenn ich Ananas wäre, würde mir jetzt schlecht werden. Sieht ja sehr martialisch aus! Ich hoffe, es ging schnell, daß die arme Frucht nicht leiden mußte! ;-)
