Donkey

Taken during a recent visit to the Hayling Island Donkey Sanctuary,. It is a small local charity with around 27 donkeys, run by volunteers and funded by donations. They have regular open days and we try and go a couple of times each summer. We also sponsor a donkey each year, as a Christmas present for a family friend.

The open days are free to attend, but a donation is asked for (only if you can afford it).........we generally donate bags of apples and carrots and the odd bale of hay and they love ginger biscuits :-)). They also do lovely coffee and cake in their small cafe..........wha's not to like?

I took far too many shots to publish here, but there are three more in the PiPs if you fancy a look.

I had no idea they liked ginger biscuits Keith. I will take a few the next time I visit Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary! I like them as well :-)

Four beautiful pictures of these gorgeous animals. I love donkeys and very pleased to hear that there is a home on the Island for them. Their eyes are really beautiful with natural black eyeliner!

A superb series Keith. Happy Tuesday.

Keith Burton replied to Rosalyn Hilborne:

The ginger biscuits are normally saved for "bribes" such as when they're having something done that they don't like..........having their hooves done, or taking medicine etc.

The have a good arrangement with a local farm shop.........anyone who wants to donate can buy stuff in the shop (including bales of hay) and the shop will store it and deliver when needed.

Glad you like this little collection Rosa.........and thanks as always for dropping in and commenting.
