Here in St John's we can't see a sky as lovely as this picture taken three nights ago looking SW from our deck in Ganny Cove. The moon had not yet officially set; it was just low enough to be hidden behind the hill and it provides almost all that brilliance along the horizon.

I was hoping to get a nice picture of the Milky Way, but I didn't. I still like this sky without much sign of it.

The picture was a fifteen-second exposure with a very wide-angle lens. The bright line in the mid-upper right is probably a satellite (it may be a meteorite). The muddier line near bottom centre is the disintegrating contrail of a jet. If you can zoom in elsewhere in the picture, there are a few other shorter lines of satellites, plus the dashed line of a plane moving through with a blinking light.
