I enjoy pointing my camera up at the night sky. I'm too cheap (and Ludditeish) to own a telescope, and too lazy to set up a tripod. I rely on leaning my shoulder or hip against a fence or tree for stability. And a modern camera with excellent stabilisation!

So this evening I tried and succeeded in getting a picture of the Beehive Cluster. It was easy to find as it was so close to the moon, the glare from which you can see in the upper left.
