Our neighbourhood Downy woodpecker showed up this morning for a quick check of all the corners that could be harbouring insects or their eggs. Besides the barky bits on trees, she had her nose down into all the electrical bits hanging on the telephone pole.

Nonetheless she kindly posed for me with her bill up.
