Maybe you had to be there. But I can see six Red crossbills in this picture.

At least two are very young ones. At least one is an adult female. And at least one is an adult male, the only one(s) who actually show the colour red.

They were shy and, though I stalked them for a half hour or more, I never got any good pictures of the adults, the colourful ones. Most of the time, they stayed hidden behind the cones they were eating. Then they would move too fast for me to get a picture. Oh well.
