Little mester's shop

In the summer of 1987 (that's nearly 38 years ago!), I was in Sheffield for a few days. Out walking one day, I went by several workshops of "little mesters," the craftspeople who operated independent shops to make small high-quality steel things, like knifes and other cutlery. The door was open to this shop and I poked my camera in and took a picture. I wish now I had waited for the workmen to appear and to get more pictures. This was my only shot.

You can see a little crack behind which the red-hot metal is, at middle left.

I had my Minolta X370, a decent enough camera, but I was using its kit 50mm lens, a shoddy piece of glass (a fact that took me a decade to understand!). And I was using Boots brand 400-speed film, hardly what could have been my best choice. Sigh.
