This area is called Ropewalk Lane today but in my childhood it was The Ropewalk. (There was a rope-making company situated just beyond the building you see on the right.)

The Ropewalk is on a bit of a height and gets fog more than we do a kilometre away in the valley.

Right now we are socked in with one of our three-week fogs with lots of rain too. So there's no escape just walking down the hill.
