Butter & eggs

I was probably two years old when my father pointed out that these flowers had a sweetness at the bottom of their tails. I and my siblings ate them, or rather sucked them, through our respective childhoods.

We called them honeysuckle. Later I heard a half-dozen different names for them; the one that stuck is probably the most common North American name, butter & eggs.

This was late this afternoon, after walking around my favourite local park.
