Bronze carabid

These big bugs are pretty common here in Newfoundland, but I understand they were an introduction from Europe a long time ago. They are a welcome visitor to people's gardens and greenhouses since they are gobblers-up of other insects.

I like to think that, when people started imagining what dinosaurs might have looked like, they saw these guys as models.
