Hall of Fame second baseman Ryne Sandberg is manager (and third base coach) assigned to the Peoria Chiefs, the Cubs' Class A farm, this summer, and he's proving to be the Midwest League's strongest attendance draw. Every league team built part of last spring's marketing campaign around Peoria's road schedule.

This week brought the Chiefs to West Michigan and Lansing, and I got to the first game in each series. The West Michigan game was absolutely delightful; the Lansing game was pretty sorry.
