A brief day trip to on of the upstate of South Carolina's most wonderful state heritage preserves for two target species: Gentiana saponaria or Soapwort Gentian and Spiranthes cernua or Nodding Ladies'-tresses orchid. It was a most successful day, because I found a lot more of what I was looking for than I could have imagined.
