Calopogon tuberosus (Common Grass-pink orchid)

The little 1-inch (2.5 cm) sprouts don't look like much at this point, but by mid-May, these will produce beautiful native orchid flowers (see below). This species is native to the eastern U.S. and extends even into the Atlantic Provinces of Canada. It loves wet places, so it is quite suitable for a bog garden.
