Our first stop of the weekend field trip was to the Francis Marion National Forest, Berkeley County, South Carolina. Walter Ezell joined me to photograph the last of the fall orchids, Fragrant ladies'-tresses orchid. They were in great shape this year -- dozens of blooming plants, scattered in the lowland swamp.
