Portel, the Castle today, North Wall.
In 1261, the sovereign authorized the construction of a castle where it would best serve the interests of the nobleman João de Aboim who, accompanied by his wife and son on December 1, 1262, issued the Charter to begin the work for the Castle of Portel.
