On my way back to Oxford, I was so frazzled from lack of sleep that I got lost in Salisbury and missed the X5 by seconds. The next bus meant changing at Marlborough, where another bus pulled in with Swindon on the front.
I settled myself up top, thankful that I would soon be home. I was a little puzzled when we seemed to be taking a different route out of town, but it wasn't till we'd gone several miles that I realised the sun was on the wrong side of me. We were heading back towards Salisbury!
I resigned myself to having to spend the night in the bus shelter at Pewsey, but the driver kindly offered me a lift back to Swindon in his car. So I did get home that night after all.
Moral of the story: always check with the driver when you get on, because he might have forgotten to change his information board.
